Too Much At Stake

Every year when the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua tent goes up for the season, the locals turn out in droves to help. In spite of the rain and mud, best friends Pat Kerry and Deb Lindberg are there bright and early at the tent raising, helping to get the summer season started that brings thousands of tourists to the south shore of Lake Superior for music and entertainment. The fun stops abruptly when a body is found by the two friends and they are quickly embroiled in mystery, murder, and mayhem.

Give yourself time and a good cup of coffee when you start to read because you won’t be able to put down this second murder mystery in the Best Friends Series. Two best friends of a “certain age” use their skills and background as minister and attorney to solve the crime in the midst of deception and greed. Join them as they are drawn into unraveling the mystery in order to save the season of their beloved tent show.

The twists and turns of Too Much at Stake, reminiscent of those solved by Miss Marple, will keep you guessing “who did it?” until the very end.

The Black Cat Mystery:
Bad To the Last Drop

Any good mystery novel keeps the reader guessing until the last page, but when that edge-of-your-seat suspense is coupled with a cast of colorful characters and spot on portrayal of small town Wisconsin, a truly enjoyable fast-paced mystery novel is born! Bad to the Last Drop is just such a novel. Funny and engaging, the first offering from authors Debra Lewis and Pat Ondarko is sure to delight any mystery devotee.

When Joe, a regular at the town’s coffee house The Black Cat, goes missing and is later found dead, the regulars at the Black Cat—Joe’s “family”—are understandably upset. But when it’s discovered that Joe might have been killed, the town is rocked to its core. Best friends Deb Linberg and Pat Kerry take it upon themselves to help solve what becomes increasingly evident is Joe’s murder. Deb’s background as an attorney and Pat’s as a minister serve them in good stead as they seek to not only unravel the mystery of Joe’s death but also to uncover the many secrets of his past, all in an attempt to help his Russian-born sisters, who arrive unexpectedly in Ashland, looking for Joe.

Bad to the Last Drop is a murder mystery reminiscent of those solved by Miss Marple—full of intrigue, twists, and unexpected answers. Co-authors Lewis and Ondarko have created an entertaining and enjoyable “recipe”: Take two best friends, mix in a coffeehouse with various local characters, and season with deception and revenge. The result is the Bad to the Last Drop—as difficult to put down as your favorite “cuppa Joe.”
